Create an engaging quiz for your visitors and collect valuable zero-party data in your email forms and popups.

With a quiz campaign, you can ask relevant questions to your visitors that can help you create segments and perform targeted email marketing flows in your ESP based on the quiz answers.

How to Create a Quiz Campaign

Select the “Collect Email Addresses” goal and click one of the templates called “Quiz”.

At the moment, you can choose between four themed quiz templates or start your design from scratch.

A quiz campaign consists of multiple “question steps” where you can ask one question per step. For each question, you can add answer options by using radio buttons.

Make sure to write your question inside the Question element as shown below:

You can add and remove answer options in the sidebar:

Remember to update the name attribute in the sidebar so it fits with the answer options you create. This way, you can easily understand the data when passing it onto your ESP or when generating your CSV file with the campaign data.

You can style the look of your answers by scrolling down to the “Styling” section in the sidebar. Here, enable “Radio Options” and customize the radios.

For example, you can use the below options to style the boxes that contain the radios:

You can add more Question steps by using the “Add Question” option at the bottom menu. If you want to collect more contact information, such as phone number, country, or gender, you can also add more Form steps to your quiz.

💡 Pro Tip: If you want to collect consent for SMS marketing, add a new Form step to your campaign, and use the SMS element. This way, you can collect phone numbers while staying compliant with GDPR regulations.

Use the three dots (...) menu next to the Question and Form steps to duplicate or delete a step, or change its order.

For quiz campaigns, you can use Triggers, Page-Level Targeting, and Targeting Options just like any other campaign type and show your campaign to the right people, at the right time.

Set Up Your Integration

To pass your quiz data onto your email system, make sure to set up an integration with your email provider.

(Check out our step-by-step guides to learn how to connect Sleeknote to your email system.)

Use the mapping step of your integration setup to match your Sleeknote campaign fields with your ESP fields.

If you don’t see any relevant options when you click the dropdowns, make sure you've created the corresponding dropdowns or radio button sets in your ESP to catch the quiz data. Here's an example from MailChimp with drop down menus.

If you're a Drip or Klaviyo user, you can create new fields directly from Sleeknote by entering a name for your new field.

Create Workflows in Your ESP

Your quiz campaign will likely result in a lot of data flowing into your email marketing system.

To help you get started setting up flows that send the right emails to the right subscribers, we have made a few examples of what your workflow logic could look like.

Note: Adding more question and answer options to your quizzes means more complicated email flows. We recommend focusing on the most important data while creating your email flows to simplify your setup. For example, you can make your email workflows conditional on the first two question steps, and keep your answer options to a minimum.

Below you can see how you can use if/else rules in Mailchimp and Decisions in Drip to send emails to visitors who have chosen specific quiz answers on each step.

You can create a similar workflow in your email service provider, and send personalized emails based on your visitors' quiz answers.
