How can I set up an email flow for Sleeknote subscribers in Klaviyo?

Watch this video on how to set up an email flow for new Sleeknote subscribers in Klaviyo or follow the steps below.

  1. First, you need to create a new custom field in Klaviyo to identify where your signups are coming from, e.g. a field called “Signup Source”. (Read this guide to learn how to create a new custom field in Klaviyo.)
  2. Log into your Sleeknote account, and find the Sleeknote campaign you use to collect email addresses. (If you have more than one, you will need to follow steps 3-7 for all of them.)
  3. Go to the integration step, where you’ve set up your Klaviyo integration. (If you haven’t set up your integration yet, see this guide.)
  4. Scroll down to “Map Additional Data” and check the box that says “Want to send custom data?”:

5. Write your identifier value in the input field to the left. It’s up to you what you call this, but make sure it’s something that tells you where these signups come from. (In this case, we would call it Sleeknote).

6. Then you need to type in the name of your custom field in the “Klaviyo Fields” input field. It’s important that you write the exact name of the field as it is in Klaviyo. (Klaviyo distinguishes between capital and non-capital letters.) In this case, we’ll use a field we named Signup Source.

7. Save your integration, and save your Sleeknote campaign. Now, all new signups from this Sleeknote campaign will get this data transferred with them to Klaviyo.

8. Go to your Klaviyo account and click “Flows” in the menu to the left:

9. Click “Create flow”:

10. Select “Create from scratch”:

11. Give your new email flow a name, and click “
Create Flow”:

12. Select your start trigger to the left.

There are two ways you can trigger a flow to your Sleeknote signups:

  1. You can add all Sleeknote signups to a segment and then trigger your flow based on the segment (Read how to create a segment with Sleeknote signups), or;
  2. You can trigger your flow based on the list you choose in your Sleeknote integration, and add a filter to specify that only signups from Sleeknote should enter this flow.

In both cases, you need to select which list or segment you want to trigger your flow after choosing your trigger:

If you choose option A, you can skip step 13.

13. If you went with option B, you now need to add a filter to your start trigger. Click the “Flow Filters” option and the “Add a flow filter” button:

14. Choose “Properties about someone” from the dropdown:

15. In the “Dimension” dropdown, you select your custom field (in this case we used Signup Source. Then you select “Equals” and enter the value you added to your Sleeknote integration (in this case, we used Sleeknote). Save your filter and click “Done”.

16. Now you can start building your flow by dragging the modules in the left menu into your flow. You can add one or more emails and make sure you welcome new subscribers the best way possible.

17. When you’re done building your flow, and you’ve added content to all emails, you can turn on your flow in the top right corner by updating all action statuses to “Live:

18. Click “
Save & Exit:

Now your email flow is live and will send to all new signups from Sleeknote.
