Connect Sleeknote to Cursor by adding it to your mcp.json file with your client credentials. Once connected, Cursor's agent can look up your Sleeknote campaigns and their performance.
What you can do with the Sleeknote MCP
The Sleeknote MCP connects your AI assistant to your Sleeknote account. Instead of digging through the dashboard, you can ask questions about your campaigns in plain language and get answers straight away.
👀
For now, the Sleeknote MCP is read-only. Your AI assistant can look up your data, but it can't create, edit, activate, disable or delete anything in your account.
You can ask things like:
- "Which of my campaigns are active right now?"
- "Which campaign had the highest conversion rate last month?"
- "How is the split test on my newsletter popup performing?"
- "Summarize how my popups performed this week."
- "Compare my exit-intent campaigns and tell me which one works best."
This makes it quick to check performance, spot your best and weakest campaigns, and pull numbers for reports without exporting anything.
Step 1: Get your Sleeknote credentials
- In the bottom-left corner of the Sleeknote dashboard, click View settings under your email address.
Scroll down to MCP Client Credentials and click Generate credentials.
A window opens with your Server URL, Client ID and Client secret. Click Copy next to each one and store them somewhere safe, like a password manager. Then click Done.
⚠️
Copy your client secret before you click Done. Sleeknote only shows it once. If you lose it, click Regenerate credentials to get a new pair. Regenerating replaces the old credentials, so any AI tool still using them stops working until you update it.
Step 2: Open your MCP settings in Cursor
- In Cursor, open Cursor Settings > Tools & MCP (called Tools & Integrations in some versions).
- Click New MCP Server. This opens your global
mcp.jsonfile.
To use Sleeknote in one project only, create .cursor/mcp.json in that project's folder instead.
Step 3: Add Sleeknote
Paste this into mcp.json, replacing the placeholders with your credentials:
{
"mcpServers": {
"sleeknote": {
"url": "<https://api.sleeknote.com/mcp>",
"auth": {
"CLIENT_ID": "your-sleeknote-client-id",
"CLIENT_SECRET": "your-sleeknote-client-secret"
}
}
}
}
If you already have other servers in the file, add the "sleeknote" block inside your existing mcpServers list. Save the file.
Step 4: Connect and check it works
- Go back to Cursor Settings > Tools & MCP.
- Find sleeknote and click Connect (or Login) if Cursor asks you to.
- Approve access in the browser window that opens.
- Check that sleeknote shows a green dot and lists its tools.
- Open the agent chat and ask, for example: "List my Sleeknote campaigns."
🔒
Keep your secret out of shared code. If you commit .cursor/mcp.json to a repository, don't paste the secret into it. Store the values as environment variables and reference them like this:
"auth": {
"CLIENT_ID": "${env:SLEEKNOTE_CLIENT_ID}",
"CLIENT_SECRET": "${env:SLEEKNOTE_CLIENT_SECRET}"
}Login page won't load? Copy the URL from Cursor's built-in browser and open it in your normal browser to finish signing in.
